Hmmmm. I would hang wall lamps for sure. I could not live without a bedside table, I would look for some little ones, maybe triangles to fit in corners? Or corner shelves?

Try a small plant stand-type table. Big enough to set a glass and book on, but not too big. It's worked well for us for years in a small bedroom.

Can you show a rough drawing of the room including dimensions and where the entry door and closets are located?

Surely this isn't the best spot for the bed.

Can you put the headboard on the same wall as the window?

We’ve used small shelves before but room and board also has some small end tables. Check out the Slim series specfically. They have several 12x12 tables at different heights in that line.

Very small rectangular ones may fit. If you can't find them, have them built. You will feel awkward without some sort of nightstand or shelf next to your bed.

I used two small end tables and they had a small ledge on the bottom and I put a basket/decorative box to store things that might otherwise have gone in a drawer with a more traditional larger night stand.

You would absolutely need sconces or wall lamps in lieu of lamps on end tables. Since I read in bed with my iPhone or iPad, I don't really need bedside reading lamps anymore but I am installing them anyway but more for looks than functionality.

Are there two people living in this room? If not, I'd push the bed against the window and make space for one real night stand. Otherwise, I like Helen's idea -- I need a place for a lamp and to put my phone/glasses/book at night, so I couldn't do without, but there are lots of workarounds where space is tight. Lamps from above the bed, narrow ledges for setting stuff, etc.

Seeing the rest of the room would be helpful. Also would be good to know the amount of use this room gets -- is this a guest bedroom? if so, you can probably get away without nightstands. If it's regularly in use, you'll want to figure out a better solution. Perhaps pushing the bed flesh against the window and fitting one nightstand?

Even in the smallest space you can hang floating shelves or tables and sconces or corded wall lamps.

If you were up for chaning the bed frame, you could put a shelf/table/storage/ of some kind behind you rather than next to you (in my last house there was no room for nightstands, but I had a useful windowsill behind my head.)

Just get skinny bed side tables and wall mounted lamps. Or maybe you could scoot the bed as much as possible into one of the corners and get a bit bigger bed side table and there would be more room to get out of bed.

Ended up moving the bed to the other wall and it worked much better!
