Help with color recommendations?

Hi,

I recently painted my dining room Benjamin Moore Wish AF680...I am trying to choose a tablecloth and curtains and just unsure what the undertones of this color are...should I go with silver/greys or golds or something else entirely?the floors are dark (jacobean)...any suggestions of colors/styles that would go with this color..so appreciated!

This is what it looks like currently....

Most here will advise against a tablecloth for day to day appearance of the table. If you need one for occasions, white will always be a winner. Would want to see the other fabrics and textiles in your home to help with curtains.

If you are not sure of direction, look up dining rooms painted pale grey or Wish. See what comes up to give you some direction.

Most popular is farmhouse and transitional looks; but grey seems to work best with monochromatic color scheme, of differing tones of grey!

Thank you so much...this is helpful ...but I am also thinking it is not a pure grey seems to have some purplish undertones so I am not sure which shade/color to go with?

Is your trim white? If so, go with white orchid in your table. Use place mats for dinner time.

What type light bulbs do you have. LEDs at around 3000 lumens is a whiter light. That affects look of paint color.

I just looked up the Hue Angle of BM Wish and it is at a 83 degree Hue Angle which means this color is in the Yellow Hue family in the warm portion of this Hue Angle. It has an LRV of 60 which means it is not very light reflective. So some other lighting factor is probably affecting your perception of this color. Using purer whites with it will be a good choice based on this analysis.

Thank you Flo that is very helpful...does that mean there is some yellow in it?

Many grays are in the Yellow Hue family and it just depends on how much black is added to the formula to get to the gray tones. In color space technology, there is no such thing as "undertones" although that has become a common way to express people's "perception" of what the color does in any given light condition. The level of "chroma" in a color indicates the amount of "colorfulness" and this color has a high level of chroma. But it isn't real dark as noted by the LRV at 60. A dark gray would have a LRV of say 16. Much darker on a scale of 0 to 100. Glass in new lowE windows also can affect the paint colors and your perception of the color in any given space. So, in any case, you can put many colors with this color as "accents" including purple, yellow, reds, but if you want calm feeling whites are a good bet.
