Headboard w/ shelving... is it in, or no?

Hey all! I’m about to be moving and have to downsize my room tremendously.

I’ve researched what to do to maximize space and came across a suggestion to have a headboard with shelves. I kind of like this idea but am worried that it’ll look childish or silly.

Any thoughts or suggestions on what else I can do to save space?
