Looks like all my sulphur cats were eaten. Oh well, they were just eating all my flower buds anyway. I think I'd rather have flowers. There seem to be plenty of sulphur butterflies around here. I'm going to see if I can find some wild sicklepods around here to get seeds from, and plant some of those that I can transfer the cats to next year. I really like the Christmas Cassia blooms.

Now I'm sounding like one of those snowbirds who comes down and complains about the caterpillars. LOL Funny, but sulphurs never laid eggs on my Cassia alata. Wonder why?

Hello and guess what? I have a similar issue and decided to camp out and found my answer. WASPS. I watch them kill then suck the life out of the sulphur and monarch caterpillars even when they're ready to pupate. By the time I notice, the cats have already been eaten. The circle of life?!?!? Hmmm.

missmandylee - I've only seen tiny little parasitic wasps around mine, but they may be killing them too. I had a huge solitary wasp killing all my monarch babies earlier this year. I think I'm giving up on every hatching butterflies outside the courtyard. They seem to do much better inside the courtyard, so that's where I'm moving some of the milkweed. Can't bring the big cassia in there, though. Oh well. They manage to make it to pupation somewhere, or they wouldn't be around.
