OK, I built a new house three years ago and installed 3 Lacey pendants over my island. One was intermittent, and the shade pulled apart on another. When the builder came back to look at the intermittent one, the bulb broke away from the ceramic. He ordered three new lights and replaced them all. The shade came apart on one of the new ones. To replace it, I had to buy another new light. Then another light became intermittent. I called out an electrician to change the bulb since they were so temperamental. The casing outside the bulb broke off. In the meantime two of the new shades pulled apart. I bought a new light to replace the one with the broken casing. Now, in trying to replace a bulb again, the casing broke. All three new shades are coming apart. The light seems to be melting the glue. Needless to say, I'm pretty much fed up with Kichler products. I love the look, but it's not worth the cost, hassle, and effort.

Thanks, I have, but they say there's no problem. Had I not done five replacements, I would have tried again. I'd also love to try a lower watt bulb, but they don't make them.

Mcrkms Two things you can try, they do make a 40w T-3 in frosted & clear available on amazon of your local hardware store. These bulbs run very hot & it looks like they have a frosted lens cover as well. Not sure if you know, you are never supposed to touch the bulbs with your bare hand or anything it will come into contact with. The oils from your fingers fry the bulb. You may also try and find a bulb that is 130volts instead of 120v the filaments a more resistant to possible voltage fluctuations. You can also use a LED candelabra base bulb, they will run much cooler, but it may be a challenge to find one that short.
