What to do with this fireplace?!!!! help its a rental

I love the garden to this house, I love it so much that I am even considering renting the house, but it has this freestandin fireplace. What can I do with it? My furniture are all very classic, I have persian rugs that will cover the floors which i do not like, but the fireplace is a nightmare. Forget the lighting fixtures, I will take those down and add something modern to give it an edge. Help with the fireplace please

At the moment it's the only thing in the room - so it's draws more attention than it would if the room were filled with your stylish furniture - so don't worry about it !!! :-)

The fireplace is not that bad, really. Replace that fan and the outdated brass fireplace screens, add your own beautiful furnishings, window treatments and you are done!

Im assuming you cannot paint the brick in a rental, but you could easily shift the focus to a dramatic over the mantle piece instead of the imposing brick fireplace. I think with new fixtures, new screen, and some drama, that can be a super interesting room! For inspiration search Houzz for ways people have made fireplaces look gallery worthy.

I like the fireplace. Since it's a rental, I would cover some panels with black fabric and velcro them to the mantle on the front side, creating a black band. Unless you prefer white. Replace the screen. I'd work with it. Place a large mirror on front and large artwork on the other sides to help cover the brick. Large sculpture or tall plants on the hearth all the way around may help.

The fireplace is a great centerpiece to the room. Given it is a rental, I would ask the landlord if you are allowed to do anything with it such as paint it.
