Builder grade update ideas

Builder grade built 2 years ago. Any ideas to make it look less builder grade and more impressive?

Some ideas: remove the shutters; paint the front door black (just the door, not the sidelights); larger lights on the garage; LANDSCAPING

Remove the shutters, they are the wrong size anyway, much larger lights on either side of the garage door, lighting on the porch entrance either sconces or hanging, decorate the porch, remove the concrete walkway and put in either pavers, rock or stanmped concrete, curved walkway to both the driveway and the street. If funds allow, I'd have a contractor build either an overhang or small pergola over the garage doors. Hanging plants on the porch and lots of landscaping. Lucky you, you have a blank slate to work with.

Add some color! The brightest thing on the front of that house is... The garage door! I would tone it down

and brighten up the color and contrast on the siding and trim. Paint front door some rich color like teal, back up, squint your eyes, and see what color pops into your mind for the remainder of the trim. As everyone else has said, landscape! In front of the walkway by the house, make a nice big border or bed, with an edge that is not a straight line.

A loose, wavy line will rest the eye from all those straight lines.

It's a very nice house, have fun!!

Changing the color of the siding is not an option but I like the idea of removing the shutters. I also like the idea of changing the lights on the garage and porch if possible (the porch lights are canned lights right behind the posts so I'm not sure how it would look).

Any more detailed landscaping ideas? Photos maybe?

I have also thought about changing the porch railing for craftsman style columns.

Paint the garage doors the same color as the house siding. And do all of the above. Fall is a great time for landscaping! Go to a good nursery and pay for some help and a ton of shrubbery/trees.

Where do you live? What zone?

No. It's not a Craftsman-style house, so adding just the columns would not make the house look better.

IRL, do the brick and siding colors clash?

That’s a very nice porch but the garage is what caught my eye first. I think bigger lights on the garage are fine in the whole scheme of things, but my focus would be on drawing attention to the porch and entryway. Some landscaping, a snazzy color on the door, a couple of big pots/containers with plants on the top step, and possibly some hanging baskets, too. Of course in IN the pots and baskets won’t work in the winter, but you could do other seasonal arrangements. We’re in prime porch pumpkin season right now, for instance. It’s a lovely simple house in classic colors with nothing faked out or tarted up; all it needs is a little focus to draw the eye.

Does anyone think something like this (painted the color of the siding) over the garage door would look good?
