Need more context - is this a house you just moved into or is it a newly remodeled space? Is the empty zone the family room or dining area or both?

This is a new home. We built it 5 years ago and just recently finished out the basement. I’m wanting to have a living room area for sure, but not sure what to do with the rest of the space.
