Want to do redeign something rustic and low maintenance using hollow logs as planters. Area is near the road by the mailbox. Have access to more logs...not sure how to group/arrange them and would like suggestions for plants/shrubs around them. Will put annuals in logs in spring Partly shady zone 4. Poor soil. Want low maintenance like ferns, maybe with with snow on the mountain. Have a Forsynthia bush and barberry bush there...but could move them First picture is of what has been there.
