Subway or hexagon backsplash?

For my kitchen, I picked a bold tile floor (see pic) with gray cabinets and brass hardware. I originally picked a glass subway tile for the backsplash, but it so popular - Now I’m tempted by white hexagon... see picture examples...all opinions appreciated :)

@Steph check out this from CB2. I love the grey. I was surprised how much I like it!
Oh wow! I love that too.

I think the arabesque shape would be fantastic with the floor pattern, and way more interesting than hex or subway. Even if you went a solid light color with matching grout, the shape of it is so cool... and there are many variations of the shape. That'd be my vote.

steph, I think I forgot to list the Walker Zanger 6th avenue,Cocoon

you can turn them either way:

Beth, you hit the nail on the head! I really like those. I’m going to wait until the cabinets are installed to make my final decision. I really appreciate your input. Thank you again.

Update! I ordered a bunch of samples from tilebar. Beth, thanks for introducing me to this company. I’m most excited to see the wind chill ceramic tile and the plain hex... here is a sample of a few I ordered.

Steph, we just did our backsplash with the Montauk Sky--I'll post a picture when I get home. Also, I've seen the Wind Chill on other threads and I love it too.

Love your choices and of course Beth does a fantastic job of finding such great choices. You are going to have one gorgeous kitchen when you are finished!

Keiko, looks great. Thanks for posting. I really like the texture of that backsplash. Definitely a contender.

My phone doesn't take very good pictures--but it's a really light subtle blue/grey color and the texture of the tiles and the pearlescent finish is awesome!

Update pic! Love the cab color.

Nice!! Can't wait to see the final reveal!

Beth, someday when I redo my kitchen, I'm going to you for backsplash help. You are really good with tile, and other things too. :)

Love the blue cabinets--seeing that, I'd lean more toward a white or something very light for the backsplash but I tend to be more cautious with that sort of thing.

    Clear hexagon

Found this tile sample... might be a good option for me... a little twist on the traditional subway.

This might just be me; however, I would do a backsplash that compliments the shape in the floor. I find I like the hex, rounds, flower shapes like the floor creates. It's simply repeating the shape in the floor with the backsplash.

A subway typically repeats the rectangular repetition in the wood floor.

Just food for thought. Repetitions create good rhythm. Just like repeating colors

I think the lighter backsplash colors look nice. I'm wondering too, as I look through, what a tile would look like that blends with your cabinet color? Maybe something like the photo shared above with the pot filler? Keeping those elements the same, might make for a soft transition, still not competing with your floor. The light countertops and I imagine light wall paint would balance it out. Just a thought. You'll get a better feel once everything's in!

Those cabinets seem to really take on several different hues on the monitor!

Love!!! What color grout are you thinking?

that is outstanding- and really it's the best of both worlds. an elongated hexagon. perfection. what is it called?

Thanks guys! I’m thinking white grout to show off that fabulous, but subtle, gray edge.

It's true that hexagon is slightly busier than a regular white subway tile but it looks so much better! I think the combination of your cabinets, floor, and backsplash is amazing. So well balanced and really beautiful!

it's a classy tile. However, I would pick grout that blends with outlined edge [gray]....don't add another outline....to outline an outline could backfire.

Madreperla....she's already done! she finished her kitchen backsplash a month ago. read the comments and quit trying to sell your tiles. this is the 9th post where you're posting these pictures without any care about reading what has been done, or what the person actually wants.

Yup, all done! This link should work, if you wanna check it out :)
