Our kitchen designer mentioned "pinched fingers" when installing horizontal pulls on doors - not sure if this is a common injury (or even how it happens) but we went with vertical pulls for doors and horizontal for drawers and it looked fine.

Anythings goes.... If you take a look in kitchen magazines or on Houzz you will see a combination of pulls installed both vertical and horizontal in the same kitchen. Then other times you will see kitchen with all knobs, or all pulls or a combination of the two of them. "Pinched fingers" I haven't heard or experience that? I wonder what they might have meant?

I have experienced "pinched fingers" - when I placed my hand on the horizontal pull my fingers got stuck as I was pulling hence the pinch.

We have them vertical and horizontal in our kitchen and like them.

It's a personal preference how you install your cabinet pulls. We typically install cabinet pulls horizontal on drawers and vertical on doors and don't think it ever looks disjointed. Although we have seen cabinets pulls that are installed horizontally on cabinet doors and it looked nice as well, it depends on the knob style and look you are going for.

I notice this is an old thread but my question is nearly the same. We will be using all pulls and I am thinking of mounting the ones for the higher cabinets horizontally. The pair in the left side of the photo are above the hood and the pair in the right side of the pic are above fridge. The pull we are using is an arch that tapers and will need to be grasped near the center so that is my reason for for reorientation. If this isn't a totally wacky idea....should they be centered in the bottom rail or in the corners where the doors meet?
