Honestly both scratch and scuff. If this is your forever home, and you're willing to look into it, what about reused plank wood? Refurbished? Maybe that will bring the price down... And you can scuff it up.. :D

We have LVP and I love it! We have a cat, a dog and 5 kids and so far no scratches, dents or scuffs after almost a year. Our LVP is wood look and is easy to clean, always looks clean, color may help, it’s soft on feet, textured so not slippery and works beautifully with our infloor heat. I will never do laminate again, it is unforgiving if it gets dented or chipped. I am not sure I would do hardwood or tile floors ever again for that matter now that we have the LVP. So IMO LVP all the way from now on. Good luck with your decision.

Agree, LVP. DS has it in her family room. Looks great despite the accidents of old dogs & puppies. Feels good underfoot, and no hollow sound like when walking on laminate. IMHO, LVP looks functional, laminate looks cheap.

I disagree neither one of them have scratched in my home in the last 11 yrs with big dogs playing inside all the time. But the quality of the flooring has a lot to do with that. I dont have wood look laminate we have one that looks like slate on our main floor and we have wood look vinyl plank in the lower level whre our dogs have free access to adog run all day. Both floors clean up with a vacuum and a damp mop and still look like new. I have never heard the hollow sound everyone talks about with laminate maybe we just used a better under pad .

For those that love LVP, are you using it in bathrooms, laundry room and kitchen? What product are you using?

I say LVP because then you can use it in the bathrooms and kitchen. Laminate does not do well with water and shouldn't be used in those spaces.

We used Flor & Decor’s NuCore vinyl plank in our basement. Color is Driftwood Oak, which has some grey tones but still a nice brown. We chose it for its waterproof quality and good price (

Alanalinette- Any issues with your floor showing foot prints, dirt, film or haze?! My issues with my previous LVP floor is that it always looked dirty! Impossible to keep clean. Please let me know how your floor is holding up thus far. Thanks!
