I am looking to replace the floor in my open concept kitchen / dining / living room. Currently there is tile and engineered hardwood, both were damaged before we moved in. I want one type of floor throughout, as it gives me greater flexibility when I re-do my kitchen. I have a large dog and may add another, so training needs to be a consideration. As well, the back door to our deck is where the dog goes in and out from, and it's subject to a lot of slush, snow, and grit. A throw rug is there now over the tile.

I talked with the owner of a flooring store today, and she suggested Fuzion FuzGuard, which is rated for kitchens and bathrooms, and is extremely water resistant (7 days submerged, no damage). Has anyone had any experience with this? It would be laid professionally. She also says it's highly scratch-resistant.

I really had my heart set on hardwood, but with the dog, and such high traffic and moisture, in such a dry Canadian climate, I've reluctantly let that go. Other types of flooring options and experiences are welcome! Bamboo? Cork? Vinyl? Thanks!
