We are in the final stage of having our maple kitchen floor refinished. This is the kitchen’s original maple floor and we did have it refinished in 2011. Using a water based polyurethane finish.
The issue is the company we hired has refinished the floor twice now in the last few weeks.
After the first refinishing, my husband and I found a few missed polyurethane areas and many inconsistencies w ‘bumps’ - small pieces of dirt, the size of a pin head, throughout the entire 410 sq feet of the kitchen floor.
The project mgr came to inspect our floor and agreed the floor definitely needed a buffing and a new coat of polyurethane.
This has now been completed.
As I was inspecting the floor again this past weekend, I am seeing many new ‘bumps’ (trapped tiny pieces of dirt) throughout the kitchen floor. Not only dirt particles but paint brush fibers also below the polyurethane finish!
I definitely do not intend to pay them until the job is done correctly.
Has anyone else experienced this before?
How is this type of situation avoided ?
