Lovely, Pea. I wouldn't want to mow either! I used to refuse to mow my back swale when the frogfruit started blooming, because that's what the White Peacocks breed on. I'd get dozens of them at a time.

Both of the ground covers planted themselves. Of the two i like the weedelia better as the snow seems to choke out other ground covers instead of coexisting.

The Weedelia looks like what we call Singapore Daisy. It's a declared environmental weed, you can grow it but not distribute or dump it. I have it at my place. It's rampant during the wet season but gets burned back by the dry season. Rooted nodes along the stems seem to survive and that's where the new growth comes from during the wet season.

It looks like it is the same family of plants Asteraceae but a different variety. Its considered a bit invasive as i said it planted itself but as weeds go it if fairly docile...not thorns, no sticky seeds, soft under foot, easily removed. The peacock butterflies like it.

I actually like wedelia. It's nice to walk on and not that hard to control with a tiny bit of work. I wish I could find some around here, but the only ones I've seen were over on the other side of town in a park I used to live by. I may have to take a ride over there and see if I can "rescue" a few cuttings.

I was just looking at a curbside easement the other day, full of those pretty blooms, and thinking what a nice groundcover it would make, but too bad it was just a form of pusley - which grows like crazy in my yard, and seems to have no redeeming value.
