My plants tend to bloom right up until they freeze. This year, it seems things have been slow to bloom, with some things that are usually blooming in October just starting to set buds.

Since our gardens always get knocked back by the cold up here in N. FL, I don't really plant "winter" plants, although I'd love to have a camellia or two.

I mostly plant perrenials and they bloom when they bloom. I have a small chenille plant i got off the the help me i am dying rack at lowes that looked so sad when i bought it but dang that thing has perked up and is sending out little red tails of bloom...its certainly an eye catcher...now i just need to find a place to plant it...says morning sun, afternoon shade but likes moist soil...in my yard 2 of three of those conditions can be attained but all three in the same location is hard.

most of my plants are perennials so i add in winter annuals where i can since my perennials go dormant typically.

I grow pansies, snapdragons, borage, calendula, breadseed poppy, and sweet allysum as winter annuals. Though, the borage and poppies don't actually start blooming until February for me (i start first day of November). hummingbirds love the borage. these grow through the january freezes. there's also this native plant that self seeds i think its Agalinis something, looks like mini pale purple snapdragon.
