I have natural oak floors in my kitchen with white cabinets, grey., white and silver counter with silvery colored backsplash. I think the oak floors look great in there. Mine is not stained and also not shiny. With hardwood, you normally get to pick what type of finish you want. I am very happy with mine.

do you have a picture? I'm going with white cabinets, white quartz countertop and white/grey backsplash in the kitchen. Whatever flooring I use in the kitchen will go throughout the house. I love greys so I'll probably have a soft grey for the walls.

I think using a natural color will bring some warmth into the space. It's also timeless and easy to design around! It seems like you already have enough grey with the walls, backsplash, and countertop.

You're right about too much grey, thats why I say maybe I should do away with the sterling oak vinyl plank and go with the hardwood flooring.

I'm going for this look.

The Fresh Oak or Easy Oak look like they might be a bit warmer. Have you looked at samples of those?

Not yet because I was only focused on the life proof but I really appreciate everyone’s input. I‘ve already told the contractor to hold off on the sterling oak(grey) I don’t know what I was thinking.

Glad you're holding off on the gray. It's a trend that won't stand the test of time. I've seen so many pictures of kitchen and other rooms done with that flooring and all gray everything else and it seriously looks like a black and white picture. The rooms are cold and sterile with no warmth whatsoever. IMO, there's a world of difference between these two kitchens.

If it weren't for the green accents in the first picture, you would think it was a black and white pic.

OMG That first picture is exactly what my kitchen would've looked like and I would've been terribly disappointed. Thanks for your insight. I don't want to go with the dark wood in my place only because I've had them in all my apartments and really need something brighter. I can still get that warmth feeling with a lighter oak. Man, I've been searching for pics like the one you posted for the longest. So glad I get to see it and you are 100% correct it wouldn't stand the test of time.

Glad to help. Again, I've seen so many pictures posted on here of gray rooms that look like black and white pics and prison cells to boot. Every room needs a little warmth. And I agree, even a lighter wood would still feel warmer.

Thanks for your help! I like color but I also like to change seasonally that’s why I prefer a grey or nuetral color paint and main furniture. I’m mapping out some ideas on the idea board.

I'm in the same boat. Just painted cabinets White on Top, Sherwin Wms pewter tankard grey on bottom and looks amazing. I'm choosing flooring now. I have it narrowed down to LVP Mannington AduraMax Apex Napa Barrel (I think), but that is darker than what you'd want. You should look at Mannington AduraMax Dry Cork. I just saw some postings of some installs here

Thanks Erin! The dry cork and barrel both look nice actually. I would go with the lighter only because I don't think I'll get a lot of natural light in my L/R and kitchen. Have you compared the durability of the brand to others? I see it's not sold in home depot. I'm totally new to flooring but I'm learning lol.

Medium brown, site-finished hardwood is timeless and will go with everything. Your flooring is not a “fashion accessory “ which can easily be changed out with time/fads/taste etc. Far too costly and disruptive! Stick with a classic.

@Anglophilia great advice, now are the majority of these kitchens completed with luxury vinyl or real hardwood? Especially those that have the same flooring throughout the home.

sp sp , real wood floors will let you refinish them in 10-15 years and change the look with a simple stain color.

sp sp , every one. :-) Its easier on the feet while standing, isnt a guaranteed broken glass with every drop, keeps with the flow of the home, can be refinished again in the future. The reasons go way beyond a possible spill one day.

We had Mannington Adura Max LVP installed in our kitchen, living room, family room, bathrooms, master closet and highly recommend it. We live in a very wet climate and have a 60-lb dog, so we needed something durable and water-friendly. Love it! (And it is delicious under foot and dampens sound - nice!)

I would run the wood through the kitchen too. I don't like when floors are different through main living spaces. It breaks them up and makes the rooms appear smaller and less cohesive. I have wood floors in my entire house (except the bathrooms with showers/ tubs). Wood is great in the kitchen and floors are sealed so there is no problem with durability in the kitchen. I'd also think long and hard before installing a 'trendy' wood tone. Classic wood colors are best.

I went with this, please excuse the dirt tracking the floors. Still a work in progress and will update with color and brand. Decided to do hardwood throughout however the shady contractor did what he wanted to do and put laminate in the laundry room and I absolutely hate the way it looks.
