Last year we bought a 27 year old custom home that needs updates, but we're not sure where to start. Do we start with an architect?

We have multiple projects we'd like to complete over the next five to ten years including:

• Building an external three-car garage with living space above
• Removing and replacing two two-story porches with balconies
• Kitchen updates
• Master bathroom remodel
• 1st floor reorganization/shuffle, the flow is very odd and there's an odd situation where a full bath could exist, but instead there are two separate half baths, one with a toilet and sink, the other with a shower and sink. Between the two is a laundry room.
• Repair/demolish/replace two chimneys, they have not been maintained over the years
