first consider your local climate and how hot and reflective the outside floors will be...check out the composite decking to match the colours of the aggregate

are you able to add any plan details which would help, is the alfresco undercover, if so I'd continue the seamless black butt and consider a more simple solution for the pool using the same material instead of two

Thanks for your comments so far - much appreciated. I don’t have photo’s but I’ve attached a plan. Hopefully it will make more sense now! Unfortunately I don’t think we could continue the black butt due to the weather conditions we get in WA but do you think composite decking under the alfresco would achieve the same effect?

match pool surround with whatever you do for the alfresco. If you do tiling in the pool area you need to be super conscious of slippage and treat accordingly. Decking spanning both outside and undercover areas will weather unevenly, so treated tiling or a natural stone paver like travertine could be the better options

Another practical thing to think about is using the right timber connectors around your pool, because unprotected brackets and post supports can rust away very quickly and make decks unstable and dangerous to use.
