There have been issues in the past with poisoned drywall etc. Are you a builder yourself? Do you know what you are doing?

I found that the category "building supplies" was about 25% of the cost of the build, not including land or site prep, architecture, engineering, or permits. (Not counting fixtures and finishes. Just the building envelope.) So what do you expect to save? It might not be worth it counting pennies on nails. At least in my house on the west coast US that's not where the money went.

If you look at every expense in building a house in total, materials like nails, sheetrock, windows, boards was about 10 or 15%.

If I am successful with my purchases I do intend on starting a company selling this stuff. It has a big market where I am. Hoping to see where it will take me. I understand what you are saying, but I would like to test out products and materials to see if I can make a profit selling it to homebuilders in my city.

I've seen YT vids about new construction around Shenzhen falling apart after 3 years. I think quality control will be your biggest challenge.

So it's NOT about building YOUR house but making a profit??????? IF you can buy it that much cheaper, so can they. It probably will not meet building codes. Does China even HAVE building codes?? They want to make their products as cheap as possible. They only pay their employees a few bucks an hour to do that and use inferior materials.

I bought tile heating cables from Bulgaria(?) before, saved thousands comparing to suntouch. Bought backup sump pump(s) (Basement WatchDog or Wayne I dont 100% remember) that had that brand label removed, poorly. They looked identical to the ones @lowes and homedepot, we were getting $499 system for $80. After couple of transactions the guy sold us a system without even removing the sticker. You buy where it makes sense. There are multiple standards in China ... The "High end" [most of us call cheap knockoffs] that locals consider best and more reliable products targeted to US and EU markets and for the Other markets (total c@). Dont ever get the later .. you will be sorry.

Having imported windows from Austria, the by far biggest economical issue for a single construction project is logistics.

What you want to do (develop this into a business) has already been done or deemed not viable by big box construction retailers so unless you have access to millions of gambling money and your network includes logistics experts I’d be very careful to not lose your shirt.

Agreed with galore. Windows from Austria - local sales guy handled importation.

Insulation from Finland - I handled it - it was a crazy experience with a broker, container people, ocean freight, truck freight, Customs put a hold on it and wanted to unload / search the container, etc.

That - and business simply gets done differently in China. Be aware that quality can vary, and you can easily be taken advantage of without strong local representation. Your specification is meaningless, and what are you going to do if a container of XXX arrives and it's not the same as the samples?

Without strong local connections, constant supervision and auditing - you are asking for hundreds of performance based lawsuits down the road. Get good insurance.

Wouldn't it be quicker, cheaper and more fun to just go to Las Vegas and gamble?
