My hedychiums are one ginger that likes full sun in FL. They will grow in partial shade but flower less. You can either plant now if your area is not going to stay too wet or put them in a pot with dry potting soil and put in a frost free dark place till the beginning of March. Remember cold plus wet equals rot so thats what you want to avoid right now.

Also, if your roots have raw cut ends on them, let them dry out a bit or you can even dust w ROOTONE which has an antifungal property to it before putting into soil/pot etc. for the winter. This helps protect from rot.
