Stairs or Ladder?

So this is a 20x20 building soon to be my craft/art shop, there is a window on each wall and a sloping ceiling that may cause problems putting stairs along a wall. Not sure how but I know I want to have access to the upper space. The front wall will be a large window that will replace the double doors. Please pardon the mess. We were in the process of building a larger shop for my husband.

I wanted to add an update and say thank you for the suggestions. It has been a slow progress and we are still working hard to get this project complete. I am super excited though and can't wait to see it finished!

How much weight do you want to store on the upper level? How often do you want to access the space? How old are you? What’s your balance like?
If you’re young and don’t foresee any mobility issues for years, favor a ladder. If you’re approaching 60 or older, go with stable stairs and a railing.

The steps look beautiful but...being accident-prone, they seem kind of dangerous. Are they up to code? I'm assuming a hand-rail is in the making.

Thank you for the update. The wood is beautiful. Will you be using a different material to finish the treads? I can see myself trying to step in the open space and knocking my teeth out on the first step.

You may want to consider two slightly slanted library ladders which slide sideways along tracks attached to the central beam (two ladders and two tracks because of the central beam) to make access to the upper area easier. A fixed stairway or ladder would be in the way of furniture or activities below. The library ladder could be rolled to one end when not in use.
If a longer track could be firmly attached to the length of the bottom of the beam, only one ladder would really be necessary.
