Good luck with your grafts, keep them warm !

I saw satsumas with some foliage at Whole Foods last week. Got some. They were really tasty! But the foliage had dried up a bit. Maybe they'll get some fresh in again and I can try grafting. Already have four satsuma plants, but what the heck! Were these from California?

I don’t know where they were from, I found them at our Asian supermarket and picked out the freshest looking ones. Haven’t even tried the fruit yet, just was interested to try the grafting challenge!

I made 5 grafts, three to some sour orange seedling rootstocks and two to an unknown rootstock (likely lemon). We shall see!

Update: of the five grafts I made from these, two look like they have taken. Nice swelling buds and green stems. I did another graft from a twig I found at a different store about a week later, that one still looks green too, so I’m hopeful.

Also, whatever this rootstock citrus is (don’t know the ID except that it looks like a lemon in petiole shape/size, I got it for free from a closing greenhouse, its original scion appeared to be long dead), I’ve done several grafts onto it and they have all taken. It must be a very receptive stock.

Good luck with them! If I find some different ones from last year, I may try again. I have five from last year that took and don't need more of the same type. Let us know how they work out!
