Salmon and Black bathroom tiles

Would love some advice on how to make this bathroom look better. Was thinking maybe adding some I Love Lucy photos for the walls...or something that would accompany the retro look. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have to keep the tiles, I'd embrace the retro-ness. Google older bathrooms to find your inspiration.

We had a similar vintage bathroom and found adding teal was a great complementary color. We hung a black and white checked shower curtain with teal trim

I like the wallpaper idea a lot. You could also paint the walls a medium gray tone, then add darker coral and white accents in towels, shower curtain, etc. I would try adding large artwork that has a lot of the coral in it, and for sure in a black frame.

black and white formal event pics would be great too. probably get a lot from library of congress. famous state events. you could hang them with black bow ties and pearls.

I agree with Studio MB in changing the shower curtain and window valance to white. Also, as others have said , a great wallpaper would go a long way in tying everything together and make things look more intentional and complete. ( You could always then still layer/hang some black and white retro photos on top of the wallpaper if you wanted. ) — You could go pretty and light , whimsical, or more bold and dramatic( like BBmaggie’s Art Deco post) whatever best represents your style, long as the colors come from your tile and white. Some examples of fresh and pretty-

If you decide to go the Art Deco route, you'll find a lot of choice for shower curtains on Society6. Your tile looks to be in beautiful shape and I love the sconces.

If it were my bathroom, I would also ditch the valance and blinds. Vinyl privacy film comes in a variety of patterns and is easy to apply (although I've never used it in a damp environment). The first and most functional improvement to my 1950s bathroom was having an electrician install a combination fan/heater/light. Here's one example of privacy film: https://www.amazon.com/Decoration-Adhesive-Blocking-Stickers-11-8x78-7/dp/B073CFR1KP/ref=asc_df_B073CFR1KP/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=216567592549&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5317738463361798089&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032552&hvtargid=pla-351208428675&psc=1

Remove the black valance but keep the shower curtain. Find a place to put a three or four drawer narrow chest for storage...unless there is one beyond the frame of the photo.
And YES to Art Deco or some other style wallpaper which includes all of those colors.

Love the shower curtain Tartanmeup posted that’s Art Deco. I had a pink and black bathroom in an old office and we did a silver on the walls and I could see the same thing with that shower curtain

retro renovation has some good ideas

    https://retrorenovation.com/2015/06/29/pink-black-bathroom-decorate-ideas/

embrace the art deco period look and bring in lighting that matches

similar bathroom style w/art deco lighting and artwork

I love that shower curtain tartan posted. I think it would be nice addition. either pick that or the wallpaper, not both. maybe bring in one of those prints for a new blind instead of the plain white one you have

a simple black/white paper (with a white shower curtain) would also work. your white window frame and blind would tie in better with more white decor.

here are some similar bathrooms to give you ideas (and if you don't already have a black/white mosaic floor, You might want to change that)

i like the window frame in the black and how they used the shower curtain pattern for a window covering. perhaps you could just do a valance or make 'faux' roman shades out of the material.

if you really hate the salmon, you can have the tiles spray coated w/a white epoxy type of paint. a pro will come in and do it.

Keep the vintage salmon. I did and have never regretted it. I did the walls with medium grey paint sort of the colour in one of Beth's pics. Went white in the salmon tub surround (real tile...I hate the fake stuff). Happened to find matching shower curtain. Large mirror.

We don’t have the black edge but similar tile. Chose a tropical leaf print and love it. I also love some of the bold selections above. Out of view is a floor to ceiling peach tiled shower - it is a lot of peach!

I also like the fireworks black and white wallpaper with a white shower curtain w black trim! Assuming your floor coordinates (good question to ask to see that).

ok, when i first saw the tiles they looked more khaki or taupe colored. if they are pink like the more recent pics. i had that color. at that time borders were in style , maybe you could find something similar. i found magnolias dark green leaves with budding magnolias, which have a fine pink line in them. i then painted above a creamy white like magnolias and all my accesories were dark green, it was so great that my mom left it in for the next owner, because they loved it too. For cool ideas you should try spoonflower.
