Girdled Lemon Tree

last modified: 7 years ago

We have a lemon tree in Southern California that is being espaliered. One of the three’s three main branches has become girdled due to twine that was wound around it much too tightly. The branch is roughly 5/8th of an inch wide, and the girdling is maybe 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch deep. The affected branch is one of three main branches, so I think the tree will survive, but curious to get thoughts as to whether the branch can be saved.
