Help balancing out this wall!

We’ve recently updated our great room (before and after below). But I need help balancing out this wall. I wanted to add a tall floor plant in the corner by the window, but do t know what to add just to the left of the console table. I don’t have enough room for a chair. Any suggestions?

i agree. a huge pot with a tall plant for the corner would be good. Also you could possibly spread your pictures out a bit more even past the console table.

Too bad you did not use that wall for the TV again but with a proper size cabinet underneath the TV is way too high for proper viewing above the fireplce

We hated the tv on that wall. The side of it was the first thing you saw when you came in the front door. We have lowered the tv over the fireplace and it tilts down. Actually easier and more comfortable to watch now than before.

You did a great job changing that room. I’m not good at large wall space ideas, so I’m following your story to hear what others have to say.

Thank you! I was thinking a small ottoman to the left. I have trouble with large wall spaces too.

You have so much room along the wall in question. Consider changing the console table to large bookcase units filled with things you love. I don't see any table or floor lamps in your photos. Consider additional lighting; using only overhead lighting is not flattering to you or your room.

Thank you, threers. I do have a floor lamp! I had moved it into our bedroom when we put the Christmas tree up on the other side of the fireplace. I’ll try moving it back out on this wall! I just purchased this console table and love it, so hate to replace it at this time. Years ago, there was a large three unit book case unit on that wall and we felt it was just too much. This wall is a work in progress. : )

I liked the chair and lamp in the corner that you had in the "before" Something like that would still look nice with the current layout but perhaps use a small sliper chair. Your consol and pictures are very nice they are just lost in the vast space of the wall.

First of all congrats on the huge improvement you made on your room. I think the wall with all of the small pieces of art might look better with something bigger and more substantial. You did the collection well but I think that wall is just too big a space for that relatively small grouping?

Your room looks a hundred times better though so keeping plugging away and you should be completely happy with it with a few minor adjustments.

I will admit I did not read all of the comments. Your console table is too small for that wall. You need a much longer table and more art. Just adding a plant and some random thing on the other side is going to give you a disjointed wall.

Take your best photos and blow them up so they can be seen from across the room. Eliminate those collage frames that hold snapshots. Better photos, larger photos, fewer photos will have more impact.

I have a rendering for you that Houzz absolutely refuses to upload, so I'll try again later.

I'd also remove that side table that's way too small.

Oh wow! That looks better! Thank you!

Thanks everyone for their input! It’s still a work in progress!

Less is more generally speaking and you have done a good job. I would suggest putting the floor lamp back and that will help balancing out the space.

    Thank you so much!

The longer console table did wonders for balancing the room. Great job!

Since you like the console so much, consider buying another one and put it right next to current one to achieve what groveraxle has shown you.......Good Luck.
