I totally agree. Eating area makes sense next to the open kitchen, and plenty of room to float a couch/chairs or a sectional in front of TV on that wall w the mirror

It is kind of a tough area to decorate. I agree that the wall with the mirror would work for the TV. If you buy an L shaped sectional, leave a walk way behind the sofa with the other leg on the dining room side. Add a chair by the stair.

If you have a rectangular table you have some options 1. use the window seat for seating for the table by sliding the table next to it. or 2. Turn the table so the short end is near the window. Option 1 would make the eating area kind of cozy and option 2 would use more of the area.

that table doesn't work there AT ALL. they had to push it up against the windows to allow for enough space to get around it. it looks ridiculous.

I am agreeing with the majority. Dining room table by the kitchen. Living room by the stairs. I love the idea that was put out there to use the window seating as part of the dining room seating. & Defi. the best place to put your TV would be where the mirror was. I like the idea of using your living room sofas to give a separating room illusion.

The window seat idea is awesome. Is it deep enough for cushions and seating. This would save space with the table close to the wall. You may need to move light fixture over table if you go with this idea.

Love the ideas, thank you soooo much! I completely agree with you guys! As a lighting option what do you think if I install a chandelier above the dining table? Get rid of the ceiling fans and do recessed lighting in the living room? Also, any ideas on a color palate? I have a beautiful old dresser I want to re-do in a bright accent color and use to put either under the tv or in the nook across from where the dining room table will be but Im not sure what to go with. I'm open to painting the walls....

Great lighting ideas. Teal would be a good choice for your dresser. Goes great with orange. I would either leave the walls or warm up with a neutral with your open space.

You could use the existing location in the dining area for a chandelier by swagging the chandelier over the table.
