I'll go with William Morris on this: “If you want a golden rule that will fit everything, this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.” Obviously,if you have something laying about that you are ready to donate it is neither functional enough or beautiful enough for you.

Beyond that, YOUR master bedroom (which looks lovely,btw) should be comfy and perfect for the two of you and your needs,how you both use the room.

What a gorgeous room! If a magazine holder will be useful to you, then that is what needs to go there. And it's not weird and you wouldn't need to hide it.

If you read the magazines when sitting in that space then a magazine holder makes perfect sense but I think it would make more sense on the other side of the chair not next to the floor lamp.BTW that choir does not look comfy for reading at all.Maybe replace that little table with something like this

Lisa: I did not know fake-books-as-décor is a an actual thing. Dying! To be honest, I’ve transitioned to Kindle a few years ago when it comes to books. I keep only select hardcopies around the condo, although I must admit I still pick up a few hardcopies here and there when I’m browsing bookstores at the airport. I haven’t transitioned to electronic formats yet when it comes magazines.

Patricia Colwell Consulting: Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve looked at the Eric Pfeiffer side table previously and really like the design. Unfortunately, it’s not a good fit for my space but it is a lovely, multifunctional piece for sure!
