hestan rangetop

Trying to get information and user feedback on the hestan ranges. Seem like they offer similar output to the blue star ranges with a sealed range. Just nervous about using any line that has been in production for such a short period of time

    OHHH NOOOOO!!

Just found out my custom hood was crushed by the freight company. Was supposed to be installed today. I'm dismayed!

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your hood. I think it makes sense to start a new thread on your review.

Shirley that is awful. Sorry to hear.

    So sorry to hear

    MK
    DId you received my email?

I am composing the first part of the Heston range review (without a hood) with what I know so far. In the meantime I have a few photos for those of you who asked for them.

No backsplash or cabinet handles yet. The color chip on top is what color the hood will be. Looks like a good match!

And here is a bit of my island.

looks beautiful, and looks like the hood is going to be a perfect match.

mandelzis i did get your email (thanks!), but you apparently have not gotten my reply.

    i called victor today.

hi, does anyone have any comments re performance of the Hestan rangetop (48")? Ignition, low simmer, power boil, griddle, knobs, cleanup.... Considering Hestan instead of the Miele.

Keith, I am writing a multi-part review on my Heston range. It will be posted soon. Let me just say I'm impressed with the rangetop's functionality. Just haven't finished putting it through it's paces yet.

mandelzis I saw that you wrote above that some of your friends found the Hestan hard to clean. Do you have more details on that? To be honest with you, the reason I am leaning toward to Hestan is because the stainless steel seems like it would be easier to maintain than the black enamel on the Wolf. My current DCS gas cooktop with stainless is very easy to clean...

    Hi
I wish I can provide more information , it was the only complaint and I didn’t dig in to it
if you are not in rush to shop I hope that by Oct 15 my kitchen renovation will be over.
after the first cleaning I can share my experience
Sorry I’m not a great help

You are in fact a great help! I spoke to victor today 😀

Hi Shirley, Can you please tell me the depth of your cabinets? I am trying to figure out how they compare to mine.

Hi Shirley, how’s the review coming? We are final starting with the demolition of our kitchen next week.

Hi Jessica, my cabinets are a standard 24" deep. With a 1 1/2" overhang of the countertop, the total depth is 25 1/2". Hope that helps.

Hi Frank, I have made more notes and will do part two of my review soon. I still don't have my ventilation hood, but so far so good with my hestan :--) I still love it.

Looks great Shirley. We opted for the Tin roof red too. What did you choose as your reward/rebate?

We finally started our renovation. I hope that I’ll have pictures to share by Thanksgiving 🙏

@User super helpful. Responded on your main review thread. Thanks again

We bought our 36” gas with griddle Hestan Stove the beginning of August, it wasn’t delivered until December. We have been waiting 6 months for the hood , which was apparently lost in transit. We had only had the stove 1 month when the oven stopped working. I had just pulled a tart from the oven when I heard a very loud whoosh and all the lights went out and the oven stopped working. I went to turn the oven off and the knob was so hot I burned my fingers. It took multiple phone calls to Hestan to get them to send a repair person out . I did get someone out a week and a half later , although he has never worked on Hestan ranges before. He ordered all new stove knob ignitor things, new thermostat sensor, new griddle thermostat and a new oven temperature sensor. I feel like he is replacing everything. I have no idea how long it will take to get the parts.

Who did you work with at Hestan?

    Was it a Hestan Hood?

our contact person at Hestan is Bianca. Yes we ordered a Hestan hood in tin roof red to match the stove. I was told last week that it was in the Port of Oakland and yesterday it was in the Port of Stockton. We live in Central California so hopefully it will be here soon but who knows?

If you still have trouble ask for Drake

Forgot about this thread until it was revived recently. Here's the pic of our completed kitchen. Our appliance sales staff didn't know about the rebate as well. Only came across it because it popped up as a facebook ad. We went with the dishwasher and just received the surprise delivery yesterday. Low to no communication, but am just thankful for a free item.

@Allen T Looks great! Does a full sheet pan (18x26") fit in the oven?

@Keith Tomich I have the 36" version and it's definitely wide enough. Not sure if it would be deep enough though. I measured it and it's about ~17 1/2" to the door. Might have to tilt the pan a bit or something.

@mgraesser @Melissa Raglin Morones @User @mandelzis would love to hear how you are liking your Hestan range tops/ ranges especially the griddle if you have them? I am considering a range top and wanted to hear how easy the griddle is to clean, how it looks now after using it and if you place pans on it for low cooking ( I know its not 'recommended' but that people do it so thought I'd ask). Thank you!!

We have the 48 inch rangetop with the 24 inch griddle and have only used it for one week. We just moved in. I love it so far. We have used the griddle three times and it has cleaned up really well. We’ve done burgers, fajitas and breakfast. You can see in my pictures where it was cooked on but I don’t mind. That’s what the cover is for. Where I’m struggling is with cleaning that back vent area? I can’t get all of the grease marks off?

Have you tried a magic eraser? Just make sure you go with the grain of the stainless steal.

@Melissa Raglin Morones thank you so much for your response! Have you placed a dutch oven on it yet to use as an extra burner? When I was at the Wolf showroom, they demo'd using it that way and was curious if you felt this could be done on the Hestan? It's my understanding that neither Wolf or Hestan recommend that in their manuals but love the idea of it.

So thankful for all the information in this thread! I’m considering hestan appliances for my new build but am having trouble finding a showroom with floor models to see in person. @spcNgtr how do you like your wall oven? can you operate it with the knobs exclusively, or do you need to use the knobs and touch screen to get the desired setting? does the screen serve mainly as a display?

The ovens have been Fantastic! The doors are very solid with keeps the kitchen from getting hot.

Everything is controlled from the knobs and the screen is only for display.

    *which

@spcNgtr so glad to hear you are loving it! thanks so much! I love the soft close door feature. A few more questions...do the doors get hot to the touch? How is the fan noise when the ovens vent?

The don’t get hot at all. I don’t think it’s loud at all. When they were first installed I recorded the fans running but couldn’t post. Here’s a link to the video and keep in mind my phone is right in front of the oven: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gt2ooh75dkdx5bj/AACJsSWC0LonqyhlWk2hNNMka?dl=0

I don’t think that likes to the video just the folder. Just in case: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0pdzqy85rxkf6ch/IMG_0664.MOV?dl=0

super helpful video @spcNgtr Your ovens are beautiful!! And so is the rest that you've shared...Thank you!

@spcNgtr, super helpful video of cooling fan noise. Thank you!

    SpcNgtr how is the dishwasher?

Does anyone have any experience with the Hestan COOKTOP? Not the range top.

    last modified: 5 years ago

@spcNgtr my main issue with deciding on a double wall oven is that it has to fit my 3/4 sheet pans. I really loved the Fisher Paykel one but the door hit the pan when closing. Most racks have a bar across the back to prevent one from pushing the sheet in too far. Any chance you can measure the rack front up to that bar? The dimensions of my 3/4 sheet pan are 21 3/4"Wx15 3/4"D. I'm trying to find a rack that is 16" deep. It's hard.

@lcm1986, The 12 inch griddle cleans up pretty easy, but to get it looking new you have to scrub a little. It does come off completely(heavy) and if you have a big single sink you can wash it in there. I have a 36 inch sink so that is what I do. I do scrub with the grain. I am not sure if the griddle needed to be seasoned first a little because when we first cooked on it bacon then pancakes the pancakes stuck even though the griddle was hot. Last time we did pancakes we rubbed with a little oil on paper towel first and pancakes came out perfectly.

@mgraesser thank you so much! Appreciate it!
