What about a lid with hinges so you can open it like a toy box?

I have had the hinged version and didn’t like it. It’s hard to open unless you remove the cushion and pillows. And it’s hard to find what you have put in there. I think I’d prefer shelves and baskets.

My kids both have drawers in their window seats. (My kids are 22 and 17, so no toys.) Here is a non staged photo of the contents of one of my daughter’s drawers. The other two contain extra bedding. I prefer the drawers, because it’s a cleaner look than baskets, and they are full extension, so it’s easy to reach inside. If you want better organization, dividers could be inserted.

Thanks! That just gave me an idea - maybe I can build some type of drawer insert into the drawer, essentially dividing in half heightwise and limiting it from becoming a junk pit. My kids are 6, so anything I can do to nudge organizing will be helpful.

Drawers. A six-year-old has very limited organizational skills, at that age just "getting stuff off the floor" is all you can hope for.
