We are finishing our basement and pretty much have a clean slate. We know where the bedrooms, kitchenette, and family room areas are going to be but are unsure on how to set up the bathroom. The bathroom will mainly be used by 3 kids. We have an ejector pump and the plumbing roughed in to access it through the basement floor. We are aware that we will have to cut up the basement floor for the toilet and shower. So I have attached a few layouts that I drew up. (Each square equals 1 foot). The bathroom would be on the left of the plan. The stairs are in the center of the basement, the kitchenette on the bottom of the pic with unfinished storage to the left of that, the family room will be on the right of the layout and the bedrooms would be on the upper right. We are struggling with the flow on how to access the bathroom. Do you access it behind the stairs (closer to the bedrooms) or the front of the stairs (walking through the whole basement from the bedrooms)? And also, have I allowed enough room so the bathroom is not crowded. I should also add that we want the shower and toilet seperate from the vanities, and if we access the bathroom from behind the stairs we will utilize under the stairs as a closet. I have worked endlessly trying to figure this out and keep coming up with different ideas but nothing ever definite. Any feedback on my layouts is appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help!
