Jan's correct on fabricating a stainless steel column; it will solve the issue. But, I hate to mention the tile work, it would be a re do for me. The rows between the outlet plates are wrong, and the pattern gets wonky in a couple of areas going up.

The pipe may not suck up as well when it's bent. The sheetrock above needs to be cut to line up exhaust pipe to straighten up for proper air flow. Then patched up. Then you can use what you have correctly.

You're probably going to end up hating that range hood. The glass will need to be cleaned about every other day, top and bottom. Hello ladder. It's not going to do a very good job of removing odors because of the shape/ design.

With that in mind, I would advise you to wait a while and evaluate performance and maintenance before investing money and effort in aesthetics.

You could make a deep box of pretty crown molding, paint it the same color as your cabinets, and attach to ceiling to hide the bend. I don't think that bend should prevent the outflowing air too much, certainly not as much as if you had a 90 degree bend. And, any hood venting to the outside is much better than a recirculating hood. I do agree that you may find that particular style may not give you the kind of extraction you would like. Best practice is to choose a hood 6" wider than the range so that there is a 3" overlay on each side, but if you don't cook a lot or if you don't do heavy frying indoors, you may be all right.

What is the distance between the cooktop and the bottom of the hood? From the pic, it looks too high, but it could just be the photo. That distance should be between 30”-36“. Higher than that, and the smoke and grease has too much opportunity to escape before ever reaching the hood. That would mean money spent on the hood being wasted, through no fault of the hood.
