Definately not wood and without any idea of the rest of the space or your style I would not hazard a guess.

I'm going to disagree with Patricia. Since the bar seems fairly traditional I would choose a bar stool that is also somewhat traditional. I like this one and think it would fit well. It's Boraam Augusta 24" swivel bar stool.

I guess if you like the tavern look they will work.

There is nothing in that space saying traditional so I guess if you are going the traditional route with furniture maybe post pics of the furniture. Hared to advise with so little info.

no, there’s no “ right or wrong “ as you say. Get something comfortable with backs , your space looks at least transitional, if not traditional, I wouldn’t get hung up on that ... I think something with wood ( or just wood legs, upholstered in fabric or leather ) would look appropriate.

You'll require stools with rings or something at the base to place the feet. I would not use stools with backs. Backs will make the area look even more crowded in appearance. The stools should swivel so they are easy to get into and out of. What your space now requires is not more wood, but some metal to break up all the wood.

With that lowered ceiling it would have been better IMO to have kept the counter at 36" high.

8 barstools IMO is way too many.

I get a ton of compliments on these stools from Wayfair. They are very sturdy, rustic but work well in my transitional kitchen. The are comfortable enough but may encourage mingling since no padding. I love that there are no moving parts. They are unique.

It's not like dining chairs. People like to relax and spread out a bit when they are at a bar. If you have bigger friends.......they take up more room also.

Is your total home traditional? Furnishing selections don't have to be matchy matchy. Of course you can order whatever bar stools you want but please don't select something that makes your project look dated the minute you finish it.
