This hibiscus has been making yellow flowers with a sort of magenta center ever since I bought it a few years ago. Then just this month, it started making orange flowers:

While I like orange flowers, I already had this orange hibiscus:

This one has not changed since I've had it, and I've had it longer than I've had the yellow one. They are both in my front yard, maybe 6-8 feet apart.

Why is my yellow one no longer making yellow flowers? Is it something to do with the soil? It's been a couple of months since I've fed it, and I give it specific hibiscus fertilizer. I really would like to have yellow flowers again, for variety.

Here are more photos of the yellow flowers:

The orange flowers have only been showing up for the past week - I had all yellow before that.

Here's a photo of it from yesterday:

These flowers are supposed to be yellow.

Here's a photo of the one that is supposed to be orange:

It is now a darker orange, sort of vermilion or red-orange.

I've had other hibiscus that make varying colors of flowers, but those tended always to make differently colored flowers, and often at the same time.

What conditions do you think are causing this shift?
