i'd try to fit your flor all the way to the wall. your orange strip will always reflect badly... literally... on your walls. i have the same ancient wide boards in my second floor and trying to have a pale blue or white wall is difficult.

Thanks ninigret, I was trying to decide about whether to try to make the Flor tiles mimic carpeting, so I appreciate the advice

I would pop out a couple of the solid FLOR tiles and pop in a couple with a coordinating pattern. Do it randomly to give it a bit of visual interest. The nice thing about FLOR is the tiles are inexpensive and you can experiment a bit. Keep the solid tiles you took out and put them on reserve. Then if you have a nasty spill or a pet accident problem, you can replace the tile.

It’s looks fine for now. You can start adding your other colors later. You’ve done the hard part w the room now relax and enjoy that new baby soon:)

I was thinking about adding an either yellow/white or orange/white area rug (maybe like this in orange on top of the Flor tiles, but I love your idea of adding in different Flor colors. Would it be boring to pick the same exact tile in a different color? I can't find anything textured that would match well. I got this in flannel blue, so I guess I could add in some clementine and or maize color?

Hard to say @outside1006 unless I knew what the bedding and other textiles will look like. I think I would avoid layering a rug on top; might be a tripping hazard, which you definitely do not want when carrying an infant. No I was thinking adding in a patterned tile--either stripes or maybe a lattice type--but much will depend on how busy your other patterns will be.

Thanks again Sabrina! I can't exactly find a Flor pattern or stripe color that goes well with the flannel blue, but may just mix in pops of solid color. I haven't bought bedding or anything yet, so maybe I can explore more with patterns there

I agree about waiting on the accents until you know your colors. And definitely just pop a few tiles in for that - no tripping hazards.

This room used solid color half-tiles (on the diagonal) as accents. I love mixing the shag in for texture!

I wouldn't necessarily make the accent color dependent on the gender of the baby (I personally never liked pink as a child!). Pick a fun color and go with it regardless of whether it's a boy or girl. You'll be busy enough once he/she arrives without worrying about decorating details :)

That’s what’s great about the tiles - very flexible to change as the child grows and developed an opinion :)

I,too think a generous injection of color is good...I like colorful stripes near the crib...even colored sheers on the window for when the sun is shining in....at first it will be more cheery for you but later there will be more visual stimulation for the baby...the floor covering especially ..if there are multi colors and textures (an added layer of a soft...easily washable ...shag rug or fur throw...area rug ?)....when the baby begins to crawl on the floor...this will be more safe as well....the next obvious addition is a comfy chair that rocks...and even a sound system ....as all the senses benefit from stimulation...both yours and the baby’s...
