Yes it does because there’s a jut out on the wall (window side) that makes the room look awkward if the table is in the other direction. I’m not opposed to trying it again one day but this does look less awkward

Some curtain panels would finish the room. Also have you thought about a buffet of some kind? Is there room for one? What color scheme were you hoping to use?

There's too much here to critique, so what I will say is .... the table needs to be going in the other direction. I don't understand the "jut out" comment, but almost regardless of whatever that is, the table needs to be going the other way. The room is not big enough for it to be going the way it currently is. Then, with the table turned , I would use only 6 chairs (2 on each side and 1 on each end). Then with the table turned, there should be enough room for a skinny credenza piece on the wall where currently the pictures are hanging. Remove those pictures and move them to the large blank wall. And flank the credenza piece with the remaining 2 chairs or find another place for them to live and only pull them in when extra seating at the table is needed.

Cannot change the table. I know square room round table (room is 10 by 12) but this is the table husband wanted and rounds in a comparable size were too $$. If you can help under these constraints that would be great and highly appreciated :)

It looks better with the leaf out. I would find a place for the other two chairs and keep this as open as possible.

Although the windows are lovely I feel they are a bit overwhelming for this small room. Softening with side panels in a nice print would add a bit of personality.

Area rug? Small buffet? Thoughts? I like the white/light gray color scheme even though the table is off white (I swear I wish it was white but it’s what I have to work with)

I wouldn’t do a rug in this small space but that’s up to you. I don’t think you have room for a console unfortunately:(! Keeping it simple is your best solution; add something wonderful to the tabletop.

Taking the leaf out helps as the room is small. Store the leaf and extra chairs for use when needed. I like the prints and the windows look fine. I would consider decorating the table but keep it minimal. Another open is to add a decorative mirror to the other wall so the light bounces off of it.

I have a similar table and chair set that had the same creamy paint that I always thought looked dingy next to our white woodwork. I chalk painted it white and waxed it. Easy to do, but time consuming. That was three years ago and it’s held up fine.

What chalk paint did you use? Can you share a pic??

BTW, I don't think that corner needs anything once the tree comes down.

Grover, I like the art you posted but think it would work nicely on the back wall. If the furniture is really as yellow as it appears on my screen then I don’t think the prints work all that well. Thoughts?

It really doesn’t look THATyellow in person...it’s not crisp white but it’s not that yellow. I’m okay with chalk painting white eventually. Need to pull more white in and light gray silver

Like the wall color! Like the art prints, very pretty, agree about lowering them.

A mirror, as someone else said, across from the window wall would be nice to reflect the light, or view to make your room feel a bit larger.

Painting chairs and table legs more of a white to blend with trim and background of prints would also be a good idea. Or even white slipcovers.

Also like the idea of the curtain panels to bring in some pattern and softness. I think I would add a third panel in between the two windows.

I wouldn't use a mirror. No one wants to watch themselves eat. Besides, they're kind of a cop out.

If you must use a mirror, make it decorative rather than something that looks like it belongs in a bedroom.

Another thought, since you don't have room for a buffet, maybe a slim wall shelf on the empty wall or even under your prints...

Lower the art you have, and find a LARGE painting or poster(arty) for the currently unadorned wall.

Maybe one of these original artworks would add some texture and contrast to your wall. Here are some ideas to ponder. Good luck and enjoy decor !

I like the idea of a small mantel/floating shelf. Which wall makes sense and where does one buy those?! We created something very similar in our last home above the fireplace, acting as a mantle. Found some large wood corbels at an antique store and stained a thick piece of wood for the top. Another option is wrought iron brackets or glass as the shelf. Try home improvement stores as well as antique/architectural/millwork stores, even etsy for a source.

Search "picture ledge" or "floating shelves." They're everywhere. Even Ikea has them. There are tutorials online to make your own.

Given the picture grouping on the back wall though, I think a single canvas would work better here.

Re: paint question
I used Annie Sloan chalk paint on the chairs, not the table apron or base. It is virtually fool proof and easy—no sanding, stripping or odor so you can work indoors. it did take two coats and was time consuming. Our woodwork is BM White Dove and the walls are Revere Pewter.

Pier 1 has 'washed' lamps, gotta post. ;-)
