THE ROOM WITH MANY HATS

Hello! I need your help. We have this lovely room called the LIBRARY/SUNROOM/GUEST ROOM/OFFICE.
Now, I plan to have my piano in here, a chair, hide-a-bed couch, a window seat and built-in bookshelves on one or two walls. As well as- our file cabinets and ‘office’ type things.
But having our guests stay in the same room with our sensitive/personal items doesn’t feel right to me.
Adding another office (unless it’s really small) really isn’t an option.
What would you do? Do you think it’s all fine in there together? Or would you deprecate the office stuff into another space? Your bedroom?

IMO a very poor place for a guest roomwith that long walk to the bathroom. How big of a space do youreally need for the office? I would like to see the whole floor plan.The library part is how large? I can’t see putting all those things in this one space, forget the piano unless it is an upright tha can sit against a wall somewhere and not near a window.IMO a window seat just takes up space for no reason. If the space is the only one for the guest room then get your office into the closet so that it can be locked when you have guests.

How often do you have guests? Rolling file cabinets that you can move to another room would solve your security issue.

Hahaha! Good luck fitting the piano into the room as well . I like the idea of rolling cabinets for your personal stuff !
Why not have the piano in the living room ...? Or sell it ..!

We have something similar...a combo office/upstairs den/overflow guest room. It is NOT our primary guest room. Has a sofa bed so sometimes the children of adult guests sleep in there... Solved the problem of sensitive paperwork by purchasing a locking file cabinet. Looks good and serves as an end table to the sofa bed.

I have a similar space too. I picked up a very compact sofa bed from The Sofa Bed Store (I'll try and link to the actual sofa at the end). It looks good and doesn't take away from the space when I use it for my office. I hadn't yet built in my book shelves so I had the luxury of building them around the sofa bed, which helped create an alcove to keep the sofa tucked into, and it feels really cozy as well. I'm not sure this is an option for you though. I like the filing cabinet as end table idea, you can get some that look more suitable for a library (rather than an office style one). This would work as an end table to the sofa, bed side table when the sofa is a bed and filing cabinet for papers.
