The cowhide was my first thought too and please get a stand for the TV that lowers it to the proper viewing height. The old rocking chair seems out of the loop where it is , maybe pull it into the sitting area and add a piece of art on the wall where it is now

There are a lot of issues in that space, but I will stick to the question. Yes, you need an area rug.

I'm not a fan of rugs on carpet, but I'm also not a fan of the shadows formed by the stuff on your coffee table. Perhaps it looks better in person, but my first thought was that your carpet was stained.

I also would pull the rocker into the conversation group, try both poufs in that corner with art on the wall above.

CeleryGirl, May I ask where you got the curtain and the rug in the 2nd rendering?

For all that recommended cowhide, I just learned it can't be vacuumed. I have a cat, so that will never work!! lol

Key points: don’t use the beater. Go the same direction of the fur. And I’ll add don’t suck up the edges, but that goes for any rug!

LOL, that cat pic! Had to takea second look after rocker comment. Yep, it does look like Grandma has to sit in the naughty corner!! I think rockers give a homey, comfort touch, so free up granny and get the rocker in the room!

Hi All, I wanted to come back since everyone was so gracious with advice. I'm not looking for a critique as I really love the way the room came out! I do need a something on the wall behind the sofa. I also ordered more curtain panels (for more fullness and to be able to close them. I am also deciding on a new lighting fixture instead of the ceiling fan. I just wanted to come back and share.
