Name That Plant!Alliums

Store bought garlic

I bought some garlic from a local grocery store (central Texas) with some bonus bulbils growing "in" the stem. Collected the bulbils and planted them. I was surprised to discover that a bulbil grew on top of the garlic round (the original bulbil). Anybody here familiar with this garlic variety? Did my research and my guess is it's 'ASIATIC'?

Side note: I planted the original bulbil last September 2018. Pulled it today, Jan 1,2019

A number of varieties do that, setting a bulbil in the stem. My Japanese, which is an Asiatic, certainly does, and as I understand it (but have not seen it for myself) quite a few softnecks will do this occasionally. There is no way to positively identify which variety you have from this alone.

"Asiatic" is one of ten general groups of varieties, not a single variety by itself.
