You are making me jealous, Floral ! Just another 4 months of snow for me.

You're probably about 2 months ahead of me too and I'm relatively early.

My helleborus is also in bloom! Noticed it on Dec 27 - sure never expected it! No snowdrops yet but do expect them soon.

I'm a touch jealous, but can't let the spring fever start up just yet! We've had a lack of snow and thawed soil so far this winter, and all that means is I'm out there every afternoon looking for early sprouts. So far they're holding back but if this keeps up they're going to really start growing.

I have several hellebores blooming.......but then January is the time when they typically do so in my area. Spring bulbs are definitely up and pushing green growth but I see no obvious flower buds yet.

What I find rather amazing is that I have a hardy fuchsia still in full bloom as well as two held over Cuphea 'Vermillionaire"!!

GG we also have some hangovers from last summer because we haven't had any really cold weather yet: a few flowers lingering on pelargoniums, fuchsias and penstemon. But not 'full bloom'.

For those in cold snowy places you might be encouraged to know that although our springs start early they're very, very slow. You'll heat up much faster than us once you get going.

I was rather surprised abut the fuchsia as well! I was out cleaning up debris from a recent windstorm and noticed the amount of flowers on that shrub were amazing. I have other hardy fuchsias that don't look anything like this one......no more flowers and few leaves remain. But this one looks as good as it did in June! Better actually, as it was very slow to flower this year at all and so has far more flowers on it now than it did earlier in the season. It is also located closer to the house than any others so may be receiving benefit of a microclimate. The cultivar name is 'Dying Embers', which IME does behave quite differently from other hardy fuchsias I have grown.

I am also surprised at the cupheas as their sister plant - the larger one in a big container - has finished its show for the year. But these two smaller holdovers from last year are still pushing flowers and enticing the hummingbirds!

If the rain stops for any reasonable amount of time, I'll try to get some photos.
