I don’t think The geranium rug will work because it’ll really show dirt. We need to keep I think a chair in that corner because DH always sits down to put on his shoes we had thought about maybe having a mirror up above. DH likes to look at himself before he leaves the house. 🤪

Yes. I have had black background rugs and they are great for spots like yours. That is a nice choice. And you could pair with stripped fabric for your chair.

Hi Dsimber! I decided to not get the rug I posted. I was hesitant about that big flower in the middle because it wasn’t my colors, but I thought I could work with that. But it turned out when I really looked into the reviews ,that the big flower that I didn’t really like is the focal point of the rug. For some reason, I was thinking they would reduce the pattern to fit into a 4 x 6 Silly me. I was possessed the last two days looking online continuously for a rug that would work and I was happy to find my old rug and so I ordered it again. So happy! I will find something new for the wall though – I never did finish that corner. You are right -I need to pull something from the rug into a new print.

Here is the rug I ordered except in a 4x6(the previous one was a 3 x 5 and when we come in the house, we still managed to make footprints on the wood floor because we don’t all fit in there)

I received the rug and I really like it. Had a feeling I would since I had the same print before and liked it. But this one is clean!!! So nice! And bigger so we don't track in as much. Remember this is our only entrance with all the mud and snow and rain from Minnesota. (We do have a lot of sunshine too!)

What can I do different? I am willing to change fabric on chair but this fabric is spot on in color. I need to change up corner wall by the chair. I thought of black mirror? Could I put wreath on garage door?

I am stuck having DH 's hats on rack and some of his shoes there. Sometimes he has 6 there. I told him only two( under the chest). The rest I will throw into the garage ( and maybe throw far if I am upset! :) Next pic will be a possible mirror?

Yes for a wreath on the door! I put one on our laundry closet door. The mirror is an excellent option. And of course the rug is perfect! 😊

I put my nice entry rug away in winter and put down an inexpensive remnant that I care nothing about. Then in the spring when there’s not so much mess it comes back out. You might like this idea?

parker, can you enter through the garage more? You could put a rug out there to catch some of the dirt before entering the house.

Thank you Cam and kcooz. I would consider that Cam maybe if I can find an in-between rug that still looks reasonable . I still want my house looking pretty. :) This area is seen from kitchen and hallway.

kcooz, Good idea about entering from garage-I am going to try to enter that way- but I don't know about my husband. He doesn't worry about it like I do AND he has alzeimers but I am going to try. You are right that I should get a rug out there to wipe feet on..

I understand about OH parker, but even if only when you come in together, it will help.

Do you have an outdoor mat as well as an indoor rug? I live in the country and I find that’s essential. A beefy outdoor mat can allow your indoor rug to stay much nicer. In particular, you need the type with a good texture on it also, it’s not as attractive on the outside of your house. It saves your indoor rug.

Liasch- yes we have a rug outside but it is a rubber type matte. We are going to Target this afternoon to look for a beefier one and get Scotch guard and a rug for the garage
