Can you post a pic of the lamp body inside the shade? It looks like a hanging oil lamp that was converted to electric. I love these things and would totally hang one (like that one) in my Victorian.

If it's a converted oil lamp then it indeed quite old (and the hardwiring would make sense, I think). Previous owners were dumb to leave it behind.

I would call that a hurricane pendant, or hurricane chandelier. Those terms pull up lamps in that style, but a bunch of other stuff as well.

Search “Gone with the wind hurricane chandelier” for options. (GWTW Hurricane chandelier) May work.

Definitely Victoria ad probably oil covered to electricity. Not a popular look these days but there are those attracted. Look on eBay.

It's a parlor lamp or library lamp, converted for electricity. I've seen this very one on E-bay a time or two. Price varies wildly based on age, design, and condition.

It was a lamp that was used in late Victorian times. It could be an old one converted to electric OR it could be one from the mid to late 70s (as in 1970) -- even Sears sold them then. I bought one for our house. Old or new it's a nice lamp IMO

Wow, I love it and would keep it if at all possible! It could be a Victorian piece converted to electrical, but I have a lamp from the 1920s that was an electric lamp, and it never was anything but electric (I got it rewired of course). This could be from the 1920s or 1930s - there was a resurgence of that "look" in some homes in the 1930s especially. But regardless, it's gorgeous!

It could be an antique piece, but there was a company (whose name escapes me at the moment--Magnolia Hall, maybe?) which widely advertised lamps like this and reproduction Victorian furniture back in the 80s. They had a small b&w ad in the back of many magazines.
