Hi-traffic family room needs some love and a better layout!
This room is such a snooze. I’m ready to get rid of everything and start over, including carpet but that will have to wait. We have a small family room (open to kitchen) but it’s also a walk-thru to the upstairs so furniture placement is limited. Should we mount the tv over the fireplace or would that be too close to the sofa? Just replace the large armoire with a media stand instead? Is there room for a narrow coffee table? We obviously need another chair (got rid of one which we haven’t replaced yet) but how else can we maximize seating so our family of 4 (2 teens) can comfortably watch tv without someone in the floor? The last picture is design inspiration...I love the cognac leather sofa, light walls, natural elements and pops of black. Thank you!

Thank you for the feedback. The sofa is right up to the main hallway (front door entrance) so we can’t have a side table, but I’m wondering if there is room for a narrow coffee table? Would you keep the tv where it is but use a different media stand or move it over the fireplace? I like the idea of swivel chairs...we had one where the chair currently is but had to let it go after it started creaking!
