What is your definition of inexpensive? Removing tile and replacing it would be expensive since the black accent tile is used in a number of ways including what appears to be a portion of the shower - which hopefully ties into the waterproofing.

You can certainly decorate around the tile so that it is more aesthetic since black is a relatively neutral color.

The black tile is not changeable without an almost full gut remodel. All of the tile in the room would need to come out, and all be redone, with the proper waterproofing and crack isolation that that requires That requires that the vanity and toilet come out, so that would be the time to replace them. Never pass up the opportunity to replace the behind the walls plumbing when the walls are gutted. At that point, you are just a tub, vent fan, lighting, and wall paint away from doing that full gut remodel.

I think you can work with the black by making a few decor changes. Live with it for a while. You can keep planning towards that more involved and much more expensive remodel down the road. But in the mean time you may find that the large expense of that would be better spent elsewhere in the home.

It's not the tile I would choose but it's actually quite nice - the problem is the wall color and that ugly mirror/cabinet. Paint the walls crisp white and replace the cabinet and I think you'll have a really lovely space. Some additional shelving and/or towel hooks/bars would help too.

I love the tiles now. the lighting and the white walls brought out the color beautifully. I'm not done yet I have a couple of more things that I want to do, but It looks like a completely different bathroom now.

Looks great. Amazing what a can of paint and a relatively simple decorative change of mirror and lighting can do.

The riddle is why anyone painted that bathroom beige when it so obviously needed to be some form of white :-).

idk know but they had horrible taste. the bottom half of my house was orange....orange.
