I agree - if you don't want to give needed info and photos - do not post! There's many posters who want Houzzers to guess what things look like so they write a million sentences without posting a picture....Newsflash - No one is going to give good advice without a visual!

I for one do not want to read a book before commenting. Pictures are the only way to really get help.

I think sometimes posters have spent so much time stewing on their issue, that they feel the visual or details are obvious. OTOH, most humans don’t relish word problems, so posts with long essays (regardless of quality information) will on the average, generate fewer responses. Photos, sketches, floor plans, are generally easier to grasp than thousands of words.

Also, sometimes people are so focused on one area (mantel, for example) they don’t realize that greater context is invaluable for the best responses.

:-) there should be an option to just generate a random response to some of the posts — choose a category (color, backsplash, etc.) and spin.... voila! Purple it is!
