How did you get the treads to appear so thick? Knosing on the face?

Absolutely amazing staircase!! I’m currently using red oak treads and want to cut the bullnose off to look like this. However it’s only 1” thick so I’m curious as to how you achieve what appears to be a 2”-3” tread? Do you attach underneath or to face of the tread? Thanks!!

Hello Michael. Thanks for the complement. Yes, we used a solid white oak nosing that was screwed and glued to the tongue. The small screws were then plugged and the tread and nosing was stained to match the floor. I hope this helps!
