I started a thread on another board here, but didn't get any responses. The best/sunniest/most fertile part of my garden has been invaded by mint, specifically, "Kentucky Colonel." Now I want mint for juleps come Derby Day, but this stuff is intent upon taking over the planet - kind of like kudzu.

So I did an bit of research and came across a reference to horticultural acetic acid: vinegar on steroids. As a one-time chemistry major in college and later a hospital lab tech, this application of the 1960's slogan "better living through chemistry" appealed to me.

Horticultural vinegar is 20% or more acetic acid, whereas the stuff in you kitchen cabinet is 5% - at best. Lots of the stuff is available on-line, but the cheapest - and strongest at 30% - is "Green Gobbler" available through Home Depot for about $27 a gallon.
