Pods eliminate fine-control over dosage. You don't say if you have a frontloader or HE toploader, or an old-style deep-fill toploader. Pods are usually sized for a typical "medium" load so tend to be an overdose for small loads, and may require two (or three) for a FULL and/or heavy-soil load (in a deep-fill toploader).

The tenant at one of my neighbor's rental properties uses Tide pods in a (provided) toploader. She has three kids and her older son and his GF/baby are in the garage apartment also using the machine. They use only one pod. City water in that area is hard. There's scum/mineral residue at the water line on the agitator and around the drum. I advised her to use more for large/heavy loads last time I was there to repair the machine. Remains to been seen if they do so.

I would say no.....it's much harder for you to use the correct amount of detergent for your load, water type, and machine. I know that the manufacturers like it, but I think they're really not the best choice for us, our clothes, or our washing machines.
