I’m not a fan of pods . I would stick to powder as much as possible. Powders are more concentrated .

Btw how’s the washing and cleaning action of your washer ?

We’ve had the new units about 10 days now. We absolutely love them. Things are so much cleaner. They are so much quieter. The wash cycles don’t seem overly long, which was one thing I’d read that people had an issue with. But our old FL seems to have been longer for the regular cycle. The dryer is so much faster, but that could also be because the washer spin cycle does a better job.

The only pods I have are the Fab ones I use for the dog laundry.

Put all dry additives directly into the drum with the clothes.

That includes fragrance beads, crystals, pods etc.

Detergents (liquid or powder) goes in the detergent drawer in its respected spot as well as bleach and fabric softener.

If you use borax...it goes directly into the drum with clothes as well as STPP.

Do you have any idea what would go in the Stain Treatment slot? Or are you saying that I shouldn’t bother with it and just put that type of additive directly in the drum?

You can use the Stain Treat compartment for something like Biz Powder and then use one of the Stain options.

I'd try putting the water softener in the Pod section, as the water from the main powder/liquid detergent dispenser flows through the Pod section anyway, I think. Pour some water in the main powder section and see if it'll flow through the Pod section to be sure.

If I use liquid I usually put the powder in the drum like George has suggested. Some Electrolux washers have something they call Smart Bost which mixes the detergent with water before dispensing it into the drum. I saw a video of this and it looked like it ran a small amount of water in the drum and a bit of detergent or something, and tumbled with that for about 8 minutes, followed by floods of water already milky with detergent and suds, and used this solution for the duration of the wash. So I am not sure what impact this might have on anything put directly in the drum. I don't know if it dispenses the stain treater before or when it the drum when using the dispenser. I doubt putting the powder in the drum would impact this but if your washer has Stain boost you might want to watch what is happening in the beginning of the cycle to determine what is going on.

Trainee, Will do. I’m not clear on what compartments get a pre dosing of water so will do what you suggested.

Jerrod, mine does have smart boost. It did just as you described. I wasn’t clear on why.

The video I saw was using a Pod and I think he said it would add 10 minutes to the cycle. It was on the heavy duty cycle and Max soil. I am not sure it does make any difference but wanted you to check it out to see if you thought it made a difference. My gut says that it won't make any difference.

I will trust the gut of laundry forum posters over mine in this instance lol.
