Sounds like a good idea. It should work. I haven't tried too hard to save the points when attaching binding :-)

I like to have my binding hit the points exactly as well and do it by making sure the points are consistently 1/4" from the edge on the outer blocks of the quilt. Imagine my outrage after I received a quilt top back from Missouri Star Quilting and they trimmed up to my points. Needless to say I called customer service, complained, and was refunded part of the quilting cost. From now on I will tell MSQ not to trim my quilts if I have points on the edge.

Refunded part of the quilting cost? Unbelievable. That would be the last quilt of mine they ever did! That is so basic. Their thing, in my opinion, is fast and easy, not experienced professional. They have messed up several of my orders, so I now shop elsewhere.

I tend toward the neurotic perfectionist, so I like my points to be exact. I ended up doing this the traditional way, then ripping and re-sewing the ones that were off.
